For the last 10 years we have been working with our sister Lions Clubs in Tecate, Mexico. We
have two vehicles equipped as Optometrist's Offices plus additional examination Instruments for screening poor patients who
have no other means of help.
We receive thousands of donated eye glasses which are then calibrated by our local Hemet and
Rialto Lions Clubs. Then we separate them by classes of men, woman and children.
When an Optometrist examines a neddy client he writes a prescription as he would in his own
office. The perscription then goes to a group of trained Lions who spend a considerable amount of time finding the glasses
that most accurately match the prescription. Our success rate has been close to 95% and if we can not find a match, we have
a new pair of glasses made for them.
